Welcome to our Pre School Room

Our pre school room offers 18 places for children aged 3 years until they leave for school.  The staff ratio in Pre School is 1 member of staff to 8 children.  The pre school area is split into two rooms, a quiet room where the children can read books, listen to story tapes, music, singing, register and self registration, and our main room where a wide range of activities take place.  We also use the creative room for cutting, painting, sand and water and other messy activities.

Your child will have a key worker as with the other rooms.  Observations will be recorded in you child’s record of achievement file, which is available for you to view at any time.

The pre school room is designed to help your child prepare for school.  The staff aim includes planning and resourcing a challenging environment, support children’s learning through planned play activities, extend and promote children’s spontaneous play and develop children’s language and communication in their play.   Through play, a secure environment and effective adult support, children can:  explore, develop and represent learning experiences that help them make sense of the world, practise and build up ideas, concepts and skills, understand the need for rules, take risks and make mistakes, think creatively and imaginatively, communicate with others and solve problems.
